Baby Gift Guide
Baby Gift Guide
Lately I have been having baby fever, it may be because I am 27 weeks pregnant, or because everyone around me is having babies… regardless I feel like every month I am putting together a baby gift. I am always looking for the perfect gift, and I wanted to share some of the amazing gift ideas I have either received or found along the way.
Gender Neutral Gifts
When I was pregnant with Elliott we decided to wait until he was born to find out if he was a boy or girl. I also postponed my shower until after he arrived because I knew I would want some gender specific items. But, if you are invited to a gender neutral shower, I have some amazing gift ideas for you!
This is one of my favourite teething and snack holders for little babies. When they are able to eat solids, you can place fresh fruit or veggies into the plastic holder, and the baby can gradually eat the snack. My son loved this when his gums were sore from teething. Cyn and I both prefer this brand because it is easier to clean than the mesh version.
The squeasy is an amazing invention! I have been using mine for 1.5 years so far and I have no complaints. You can put any of your homemade baby foods or yogurt into the container and your child can easily eat the food, without a huge mess! It is perfect for on the go. I am buying a second one for my next baby because I can’t live without it.
I received this as a baby gift and Elliott and I still use it all the time. It is a great way to keep snacks organized in a container, but your baby can still access their treats when they need them. I also love that it forces your child to take one or two snacks at a time because they are unable to grab a handful with the lid design.
I received this gift from Cyn and I am so grateful for it! The machine plays heartbeat, white noise, ocean, and lullaby sounds that help soothe your baby. It can play for a set amount of time or until you turn it off (that is what makes this machine so great!). If your baby is easily woken from noise, then a sleep machine will help to mask those background noises so that they have a more restful night. This machine is also smaller so it is great for travelling.
The sleep machine I am currently using in Elliott’s room is the Dohm. I absolutely love it! It plugs into the wall, so no more batteries! It uses a fan to create a soothing white noise. There are not as many sound options with this model, but so far it has been a lifesaver for Elliott.
Elliott started teething at a young age and I really struggled finding a teething toy that he could hold onto, especially in the car or in his stroller. The Munchmitt was the perfect solution! He wears it on his hand which eliminated the constant dropping of teething toys. The mitt has a flexible textured silicone surface that provides teething relief. It is designed for babies from 3 months – 8 months (or until they are able to remove the mitt).
For Elliott’s 2nd birthday he received a Jellycat book and matching stuffed animal. It was a huge hit! I think this would make an amazing baby gift, especially if you do not know the sex of the baby. You can choose a story, and then match the story to one of their adorable stuffed animals. Elliott loves holding his stuffed lion when we read The Very Brave Lion. I am honestly addicted to this collection and I am excited to get more of their books.
Unique Wood Decor & Displays
If you are looking for a special gift, make sure to check out the Grow and Company’s Etsy shop! They have a ton of super unique and adorable wood decor items including family rulers, birth stats board and art displays. Any of these gifts would be SUCH a hit at a baby shower especially with the current woodland nursery theme that is taking over! If you have something in mind, these ladies also do custom orders so make sure to message them!
Birth Stats Stuffy
What a perfect gift that will be treasured for years! These stuffies are very well made and also have a zipper so that you can remove the interior padding and wash it! Now someone was thinking when they thought of these!
Gifts that Mommy will appreciate
This is one of my go-to gifts for a new mommy. I received this from a friend and I am always thanking her for introducing me to this miracle stick. For first few months of Elliott life I feel like I spent a lot of my time in the laundry room trying to remove a number of stains from his adorable clothes. This stick easily removes stains, and will save mommy from a lot of headaches.
These face and body cloths are perfect for bath time or for clean up after eating. The cloths are super absorbent and gentle for sensitive skin. I just switched all of my kitchen cloths over to these for the kids and I am really happy with how well they clean.
I have been using this towel since Elliott was a newborn and I love it. It absorbs the water quickly so that your baby doesn’t get cold after a bath. This item is going on my list of things to buy for baby #2!
These are my favourite pjs’s for Elliott. They are made from bamboo fabric that is super soft, even after multiple washes. One of my biggest complaints with pjs is that the fabric turns to cardboard after 10 washes. When you invest in a higher quality fabric, like bamboo, the pjs last a lot longer! I have saved all of Elliott’s Pajameze for baby #2, and they still feel brand new! Bamboo also helps regulate your babies temperature, which is important for a good nights sleep. One thing that sets these pjs apart is their unique design. They have an ankle to ankle zipper opening to allow for easy diaper changes. This comes in handy during a late night diaper change! Recently, this has been my go-to baby shower gift. I purchase mine in 6-9 month size because new moms tend to receive a lot of clothes in the 0-6 month range (the small sizes are just so darn cute!).
